Tips for renaming notes in Outlook 2007June 22, 2020 by Edward Schneider
Recently, some readers told us that they learned to rename notes in Outlook 2007. Step 1: Switch to the “Notes” view by clicking the “Note” button in the navigation area below. Step 2: Open the note you want to rename later by double-clicking on it. Step 3: In an open note, enter a new name at the beginning of the existing text.
Can you rename categories in Outlook?Step 2. Open the Color Categories dialog box: in Outlook 2010 and 2013, on the Home tab in the Tags group, click Categorization> All Categories. Select a color category and select it, which you will rename later. Click the Rename button.
If you use archive files (.pst) in your Outlook configuration, they will appear in the Outlook folder structure on the left. By default, Outlook archive folders have the following name: "My Outlook Data File." As you can see, in my Outlook configuration, two archive folders are associated with the names “My Outlook Data File (1)” and “My Outlook Data File (2)”.
Note: In Outlook 2010 and later, for new PST files, the default name is “My Outlook Data File” (“Personal Folders” was used in earlier versions of Outlook). When using automatic archiving, the standard PST file name is “Archive”.
These PST archive names are quite long and will be shortened if you do not increase the width of the folder area. Have you linked many archive files? Or maybe the archives of several mailboxes? If so, this can be a bit confusing. Let's see how to change the names of archive files and mailboxes in Outlook. Follow these steps to rename your archive files.
Microsoft Outlook Archive File
The name of the archive folder is indicated in the upper field of the General tab. In our case, This is “My Outlook Data File (1),” and you cannot change this name because the field cannot be changed.
Then you can enter any name in the Name field. We changed the name of the archive to Sales2018. Click Apply, then OK. And you can start!
Note that the PST file name does not change in the File Name field. The default directory for the location of the .pst files is: C: \ Users \ username \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Outlook. If you rename the archive file in Outlook, only the display name in the Outlook folder area changes. The file name on the hard disk does not change. It is still called "My Outlook Data File (1) .pst."
A complete list of connected .pst files and their display names can be viewed in the Outlook configuration settings (File> Information> Account Settings> Account Settings> Data Files). As you can see, the Exchange mailbox (OST file) and the two PST archive files are linked in our configuration.
