In the past few weeks, some users have reported that they encounter deleted emails in Outlook 2007. Outlook 2007: if you want to recover or delete deleted items from the Deleted Items folder, select the Deleted Items folder, go to Tools> Recover Deleted Items and select Recover or Delete.
When you delete items (e-mail messages, contacts, calendars, tasks, etc.) from your mailbox, they are first transferred to the Deleted Items folder in this mailbox.
After you delete an item from the Deleted Items folder, you can still restore it if Exchange Server is configured to save deleted items. This provides some protection against accidental deletion. By default, permanently deleted items are stored in Exchange 2007/2010 accounts for 14 days and in Exchange 2003 accounts on the server for 7 days. If you have a dedicated Exchange account, you can change this parameter by changing the value of the Keep deleted items for (days) parameter in the control panel on the MS Exchange server> Mailboxes> Storage Management Page.
If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2003, this feature is not enabled by default and requires a registry change. For detailed instructions, see the Microsoft Support Article. How can I recover items that I “deleted” in Outlook? Then follow the instructions for Outlook 2007.
Important NoteNote: In Outlook Web Access, you can only restore items that have been deleted from the Deleted Items folder. To recover or delete deleted items from other mail folders using Shift + Delete (“hard delete”), you must use the Outlook client.
