In the past few days, some users have encountered a Server 2003 333 error code. This problem occurs for several reasons. Let's see them now. Decision. Event ID 333 is written to the system event log when the Microsoft Windows operating system cannot reset and write to the registry hive. Event ID 333 can occur for the following reasons: Reason 1: memory conflict (exhaustion of the page pool / non-page pools, low system PTE, etc.).

I recently worked with Windows Server 2003, which had memory problems. In short, ESX ran out of memory, and the servers had to be moved. However, after that I always found that the log looks like this:

Problem - Event ID 333 continues to be generated every 5-30 seconds after deleting Event ID 2020, which was no longer added to the event log.

Let's look at the main scenario here. We usually know all our servers, physical and virtual, and we know what they are capable of, and we adapt them accordingly. However, sometimes an application (in the case of a physical application) or the entire server (in the case of a virtual application) uses all the memory allocated to it or shared resources.

This causes Event 2020 errors, the source is the server. It basically says, “Hey, I don't have enough memory, and the page pool area has disappeared!”

Event 2020 will end as soon as the problem is resolved or the side zone reduces the load. However, event 333 may be repeated. This is a Microsoft issue. Do not worry. They will not stop until the server isIt is rebooted or until the sky prohibits fixing Windows Server 2003 boxes. But let's be honest, these are already outdated systems that, we are afraid, are already disabled.

Well, these errors should not send the console as spam every 5-30 seconds, but they will. This way you do not need to control it unless you restarted and they still appear. However, be sure to check to see if 2020 has occurred after the reboot.

What roles does this server have? File Server
How does this server work? The performances are good. Sometimes the car becomes slow. Then how are you.
What is the H / W configuration? This is Dell Poweredge 380G5
What other b / ws are uploaded to this server? Nothing special. Netbackup and antivirus only

The symptom is the same: several events: “The I / O operation initiated by registration failed,” the system event was recorded. The application also reported a “creation process error” in the application event. Since the CreateProcess () function rarely crashes, the occurrence of this event is a good indicator of system recovery.resources.

In fact, I came across the “previous shutdown was unexpected” event, which means that Windows did not erase the timestamp at shutdown. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950323) The operating system did not. You can even update the value in the registry! How could this happen? It’s easy to guess that Windows will not lose paged memory or paged pool.

So, I added two counters: bytes of the unchanged pool and bytes of the exchanged pool, as well as counters of kernel objects in case of a descriptor leak. No wonder the system crashed in two days. As shown in the following figure, the size of the external pool continues to increase from 2009-10-24 09:28 to 2009-10-26 23:26 when a system crashes with a pool size of almost 360 Mon. I use Procexp to get the outer pool limit, which is actually 360 MB.

The last step is to find out which pilot is flowing. Poolmon (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc737099(WS.10).aspx) can be used to track detailed information about the page pool and about third-party resources.

We got the event ID: 333 "The input-output operation initiated by the recording cannot be fixed. The recording cannot read, write, or output any of the files that contain the system image of the recording." On a Windows 2003 R2 terminal server with SEP 12.1.

We could reproduce the problem simply by doing a SEP analysis. We note that all user registration structures are loaded into the user directory of the HKEY register, which will be analyzed by all registered persons. Depending on the number of users connected to the server, this can add up quickly. In this case, the registry memory becomes so low that no new data can be written to the registry until the server restarts. [More]

The first recorded event usually indicated that there was not enough available system memory for recording. Event ID: 333 is then recorded approximately every 30 seconds.

We found this article that helped solve this problem: http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/event-id-333. In this article, you will find storage pool options in stre with a link to: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;312362.

The article says about PagedPoolMax: “If you set it to 60, the memory manager will be prompted to start trimming PagedPoolMax from 60% instead of the default value of 80%. If a threshold of 60% is not enough for treatment tips. "Reduce this parameter in the exercise to 50 or 40%."

In our tests, a value of 60 always showed a resource shortage problem. When you set the PagedPoolMax value to 40 (decimal) with other TCP stack options, log errors for Symantec scans were stopped.
