Tips to fix hard drive partitioning in Windows 7August 24, 2020 by Owen Faunce
If you get partitioned hard drive in Windows 7 error code on your PC, then you need to check these fix methods.
- Click Start to open the Disk Management tool.
- Right-click the drive you want to partition to create unallocated space on it.
- Do not change the settings in the Minimize window.
- Right click on the new section.
- The New Simple Volume Wizard will open.
When we talk about "drives" called C :, D :, and so on, we are actually talking about partitions, partitions of a physical disk. Every hard drive used has at least one partition. You can shrink this section and create new ones from the extra space. This is useful when installing multiple operating systems, or if you really want to keep programs and data separate.
Step 1. Make a full backup of the entire disk image if you don't already have one. Disasters happen. (Check out our tips for finding the best Windows backup software to get started.)
Step 2. Make sure there is enough free space on the existing partition to create a new partition. The following articles can help you clean up:
If you are still running out of space, you can move the files to an external drive. After the split is complete, you can move it back to the new section.
Step 3. Open the Windows partition tool. Windows comes with a fairly useful tool for creating partitions. Most likely, it will match Meet your needs, and if it isn't, you'll find out soon enough. Enter a partition in the search bar to open it, and then click Create and Format Disk Partitions. (Enter partitions in Windows 8 - yes, you need s).
So wait. This may take some time. Finally, a dialog box asks you how much to compress the section. The default number is the maximum available.
And this is a disk management problem. If the current partition has 228 GB of free space, you can shrink it to less than 228 GB. If you can't use the program to compress the section as much as you want, skip to the last paragraph.
Suppose you can shrink the partition enough using Disk Management. In this case, set the correct size, click the "Reduce" button and follow the instructions.Step 5: Create a new section. When the resizing is complete, right-click the unallocated space on the physical disk and select New Simple Volume.
Option: Use A Third Party Tool
If Disk Management is notcan shrink the partition as much as you need, it's time to use a third party program. I recommend EASEUS Partition Master for free. It's easy and, as the name suggests, free. And it can shrink your partition until there is almost no free space left. However, during installation, select the Custom installation option to avoid installing additional unwanted programs.
