If you have a Biostar checksum error, this article should help.

TIP: Click on this link to repair Windows errors and increase system performance.

A checksum error may indicate a damaged CMOS. This error could be caused by a dead battery. Check the battery and replace if necessary. Displays the operating speed of the CPU.

CMOS battery failure

CMOS battery has stopped working. Contact your system dealer for battery replacement.

CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded

The CMOS checksum is incorrect, so the system loads the default device configuration. A checksum error can indicate damage to the CMOS. This error could be caused by a dead battery. Check the battery and replace if necessary.

CPU in nnnn

Shows the operating speed of the processor.

Display toggle set incorrectly

The motherboard display switch can be set to black and white or color. This message indicates that the switch is set to a position other than configuration. Determine the correct setting, then turn off the system and changejumper or go to the Setup menu and change the VIDEO selection.

Press ESC to skip memory test

The user can press Esc to skip the full memory test.

floppy disk (s) error

Could not find or initialize controller or floppy drive. Make sure the controller is installed correctly. If a floppy drive is not installed, make sure the floppy drive selection in the installer is set to NO or AUTO.

Initializing hard drive
Wait a bit

Some hard drives take extra time to initialize.

Could not find or initialize controller or hard drive. Make sure the controller is installed correctly. If no hard drive is installed, make sure the hard drive selection is set to NO in the setup.

How do I fix a floppy disk error?

Enter BIOS and see if the floppy drive is set as the primary boot device. Change it if necessary (set the hard drive as the primary boot device). Enter BIOS and set Floppy Drive A to Disabled or Not Installed, save it with F10 and restart your computer. Make sure the floppy drive is connected.

Diagnostics of hard drive (s) failed

The system may be performing some diagnostic routines on the drive. This message appears when one or more hard drives return an error during diagnostics.

Keyboard error or keyboard not available

Unable to initialize keyboard. Make sure the keyboard is properly connected and that no keys are pressed during POST. To intentionally configure a system without a keyboard, set the error stop condition to HALT ON ALL, BUT KEYBOARD. The BIOS then ignores the missing keyboard during POST.

Keyboard locked - unlock key

This message usually indicates that one or more keys were pressed while testing the keyboard. Make sure there is nothing on the keyboarddoes not lie.

Memory test:

This message appears during a memory check and counts down the memory areas to be checked.

What causes a checksum error?

The most common cause of a checksum error is a bad battery. In this scenario, your PC's motherboard is not receiving enough power to boot properly. Of course, there could also be a virus problem on your computer, or your PC's registry is corrupted and overloaded.

If POST encounters an error during a memory check, additional information is displayed containing information about the type and location of the 'memory error.

Override enabled - defaults loaded

If the system cannot boot with the current CMOS configuration, the BIOS can overwrite the current configuration with a number of BIOS defaults. required for the most stable system operation at minimum power.

Press Tab to display the POST screen

System OEMs may replace the Phoenix Technologies AwardBIOS POST display with their own display. Turning onThis message to the OEM display allows the operator to toggle between the OEM display and the standard POST display.

Primary primary hard drive error

POST encounters an error on the IDE's primary primary hard drive.

Primary slave hard drive error

POST detects an error on the IDE's secondary master hard drive.

Recovery from hard drive. Press the Tab key to open the POST screen

Phoenix Technologies offers laptop hard drive backups. This message may appear when the operator reboots the system from the hard drive after shutdown. A description of this feature can be found above under the Tab & Message tab.

Secondary master hard drive failed

POST encounters an error on the IDE's primary slave hard drive.

What Is Cmos Checksum Error, Biostar Error?

Checksum Error Cmos Biostar-Error is the hexadecimal format of the error caused. This is a common error code format used by Windows and other manufacturers of Windows-compatible software and drivers.

This code is used by the manufacturer to determine the cause of the error. This Biostar Cmos checksum error code consists of a numerical error number and a technical description. In some cases, the error can have more parameters in the Biostar cmos checksum error format. This additional hexadecimal code is the address of the locations where instructions were loaded at the time of the error.

There Are Two Ways To Fix The Error:

Troubleshooting: Prebuilt Bootable CD ISO File:
1. Unzip and burn the ISO GUID_005.iso file as an ISO image on a CD or CD-RW (not DVD!) Using software Burning software that supports ISO images, such as the free CDBurnerXP.
Attention: get CDBurnerXP version without installCore or OpenCandy! (Adware!)
2. Go to number 3.

Troubleshooting: Create your own bootable media:
1. Create a bootable DOS floppy / CD / USB stick.
2. Unzip and copy fwguid.exe to bootable media.
3. Find the sticker with ID 1394 on the motherboard (see photo) and write it down.
4. Boot from the rescue media and paste the following command into the DOS cursor:
fwguid with 1394-GUID and press ENTER.
Attention: instead of 1394-GUID, you must insert your 1394-ID from the sticker on the motherboard!
(Full call example: fwguid c 00138F0000000091)
5. You should see a success message such as "Write function GUID, call OK" and after reboot everything should be fine.

ID 1394 is a 16-digit (8-byte) serial number, such as 00138F0000000091 and is found on a sticker.

Error message: "MAC address is invalid in CMOS and Flash"

The error message "MAC address is invalid in CMOS and Flash" is sometimes displayed on motherboardtax ASUS and ASROCK after BIOS update or after installing newly programmed BIOS chip.

BIOS update files come directly from the motherboard manufacturer eg. from ASUS or ASROCK, so these files cannot contain a unique network address (MAC), otherwise all motherboards will have the same MAC address after BIOS update. Typically, the BIOS should detect the absence of a MAC address during the boot process and be able to obtain that address from the network card for insertion into the BIOS. Unfortunately, for some reason, this is not always the case.

There Are Two Ways To Fix The Error:

Bug Fixes: Using DMI Tool:
1. Create a bootable DOS floppy / CD / USB stick.
2. Unzip and copy the dmi.exe file to your bootable media.
3. On the main boa constrictor
