Hello Tino88yb,

Are you launching IE from the desktop icon?

  • Rebuild ShellIconCache. This file is automatically recreated when the screen color depth changes. To change the screen color depth to a new setting and then reset it to its original value, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click on the desktop and select Properties.
    2. Open the "Settings" tab.
    3. Change the color depth from the current value to the new value. For example, go from Most significant (32 bits) to least significant (16 bits).
    4. Click Apply, then click Yes to Accept changes.
    5. Revert the color depth to the original setting.
    6. Click Apply, then click Yes to accept the changes.
  • In Registry Editor add Max Cached Icons string value with values from 2000 to the following registry key and restart your computer:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer

If the icons are still incorrect, delete the ShellIconCache. The data value range for the maximum number of cached characters is 100 to 4096. The default is 500.
