Yes, the "Replace text as you type" checkbox is selected. An attempt was also made to rename "normal.dotm" and "normal.dot" as suggested in the "Fix" section (see answer below). Did not work. But it works when I log into XP with a different user ID!

Thanks for your suggestion.

Yes, I tried to fix it, but he said that "Fix" does not apply to my OS and version. I have XP SP2, Office 2007. I tried to fix and rename normal.dotm and normal.dot myself. This does not work. So I need to login with a different user id to get Auto-correction. I can create a document in User IDA (no autocorrect), then log into UserIDB (autocorrect) and do thespell check. You may need to completely reinstall Office 2007 later.

autocorrect stopped working word 2007

If you look in the AutoCorrect dialog box, do any entries (that don't work) exist or are they not listed? Is the correct language applied to the text? Specifically, deselect the Automatically detect language check box in the Language (Check) dialog box. Tab | Language settings).

Unformatted autocorrect entries are saved as separate files with the ACL extension.
depends on the language.

How do I turn on AutoCorrect in Word 2007?

Click the File tab, then click Options. In the Word Options dialog box, click Validate. Make sure the Check spelling as I type check box is selected under When correcting spelling and grammar in Word. Make sure all the boxes in the "Exception for" section are unchecked.

Please note that uninstalling Office rarely fixes problems (as it leaves some registry entries and some files).
